My Story

How I got here: the road to my Mexican dream

I first came to Mexico with the simple intention of living as a digital nomad for six months, but life had other plans. When COVID struck, I found myself “stuck” here—a situation that turned into a gift, as Mexico’s lenient rules allowed me to safely explore all 32 states and fall in love with the country’s diversity.

With the uncertainty of the pandemic, I applied for a one‑year digital nomad visa while living in Puerto Vallarta, where I also met my now husband. Soon after, I transitioned to a four‑year temporary resident visa while building a life in Cabo.

The most transformative moment came when my son was born here, which immediately qualified me for permanent residency.

Today, I am proudly processing my Mexican citizenship and living full‑time in Cabo, raising my family and building a business rooted in the country that welcomed me so openly.

What began as a short adventure has become a lifelong commitment, and my personal journey through every stage of Mexico’s residency process—digital nomad, temporary resident, permanent resident, and now citizenship—has given me not only deep knowledge but also empathy for others navigating the same path.

This is why I created The Mexican Dream: to guide individuals, couples, and families through their own relocation journeys with clarity, confidence, and heart.
